Your executive has become aware that UAVs are now a common survey tool that many member firms possess, we have heard that members have been advised that the equipment can simply be added to their existing survey equipment policy and that the liabilities are adequately covered by their general public liability insurance. We have checked this with our brokers Aon who advise that is not the case. A specific aircraft policy is required to give you protection from the liabilities arising from the use of your UAV.
In terms of your conditions of Engagement, CSNZ in association with LPMS commissioned a set of terms and conditions that you should use in association with your standard terms and conditions whenever you are undertaking UAV work. These terms and conditions are available on the CSNZ website and also on the LPMS website.
